Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Office conducts an average of 20 search and rescue missions a year. Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Office works with volunteers, along with Meeker Fire & Rescue, Rangely Search and Rescue and the Rangely Fire Department.

Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Office has a volunteer Posse group that meets on the second Thursday of every month at the courthouse in Meeker at 6:00 p.m. The Posse conducts training, exercises, and discusses mission requirements.
