Food Safety

We help protect citizens and visitors to the county from foodborne illness by inspecting retail food establishments, providing education about proper food handling, and through food product recalls.

We use regulatory and educational efforts to prevent foodborne illness in retail food establishments in Rio Blanco County. This is accomplished through routine inspection of restaurants, grocery stores, and other food vendors to assure compliance with food safety regulations. We educate food handlers, investigate consumer complaints, and assist with foodborne outbreak investigations. In addition, we issue licenses to retail food establishments and conduct thorough reviews of plans for new and remodeled facilities.
