VOTER REGISTRATION

QUALIFICATIONS/METHODS OF REGISTERING


Any person desiring to register to vote must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Colorado for 22 days.  Voters may register online at www.govotecolorado.com; in person at the County Clerk's offices (Meeker-555 Main St. or Rangely-17497 Hwy 64); By mail, email or fax; at a driver's license examination facility; at a voter registration agency; or via a voter registration drive.  The option to register via a voter registration drive closes on the 22nd day prior to any election.

A person must register to vote by the 8th day prior to an election in order to receive a ballot by mail.  Ballots may be obtained in-person at the County Clerk's office through Election Day.

By Mail-In Registration: 

 

Download the form, complete and mail to Meeker Office address listed above. The forms are also available at the county clerk offices, public libraries, schools, and town halls. Forms must be postmarked by 8 days prior to an election in order to receive a ballot by mail for that election.

REGISTRATION  STATUS

To check on the current status of your voter registration and/or your address of record, please contact our office at (970) 878-9460 OR check and make changes online at www.govotecolorado.com .

If you have moved, changed your name or wish to change your political party affiliation,  please update your voter registration information with the county clerk prior to 22 days before any election in order to have your ballot automatically mailed to your new address.  You may print a change form, complete, and mail to the County Clerk's office or complete changes online at www.GoVoteColorado.com .

VOTING INFORMATION

Mail-In Voting:

Colorado is now an all mail ballot state with ballots automatically mailed to registered voters to their mailing address of record.  Ballots are mailed between 18-22 days prior to each election conducted by the County Clerk.  Completed ballots may be returned via mail or by dropping them into a ballot box at a drop-off location.

If a voter needs a ballot mailed to an address other than their regular mailing address on record, they must apply for an absentee ballot.  To do this, please visit www.govotecolorado.com or download, print and complete the application form  and mail it to:

 Replacement Ballots:

If you have spoiled, lost or never received the mail ballot sent to your address, you may request a replacement ballot to be mailed to you by contacting our office.

Identification Requirements:

Colorado law requires voters to present identification prior to voting in-person at a Voter Srvice and Polling Center or prior to returning a mail ballot if their voter registration did not contain verifiable ID information.

If voting by mail, the envelope will be stamped "ID REQUIRED" in red, and a photocopy of your ID must be included in the return envelope (please place outside of the secrecy sleeve containing the voted ballot).  Check here for Colorado's acceptable forms of I.D. listing.  If you have questions, plase call the County Clerk at (970) 878-9460.

 

  Party Affiliation Required for Primary Elections.

For primary elections only, you must be affiliated or affiliate with a political party to vote that party's primary ballot.

Unaffiliated voters may affiliate online at www.GoVoteColorado.com no later than 8 days prior to the primary election and be mailed a ballot.  Unaffiliated voters also have the option to affiliate in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center prior to voting.
